First Filipino film to be nominated at the 2007 Independent Spirit Awards

Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros)” scored another feat for Philippine cinema. In ceremonies hosted by Felicity Huffman and Don Cheadle Tuesday morning at the Sofitel Hotel, “Maximo” was announced as one of the five nominees in the foreign film category, which is awarded to the director. The film 'Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros)' had received numerous awards like Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk Grand Prix at Berlin International Film Festival, Glass Bear - Special Mention at Berlin International Film Festival, Golden Lady Harimaguada at Las Palmas Film Festival, Spain, Golden Zenith Award for Best Picture at Montreal World Film Festival 2005, Quebec, Best Film at Asian Festival of 1st Films, Singapore and many more.
