Can Cell phones cause cancer?
Brain cancer rates in the United States have risen since cell phones were introduced, leading some people to wonder if cell phone usage is the reason for the increase. Cell phone usage has exploded over the past decade and continues to rise. Nearly two hundred million people in the United States have cell phones and there are well over one billion users worldwide. That means there are a lot of phones sending their frequencies over the airwaves at any given time. There have been rumors than this frequencies could cause cancer to humans, but a closer examination of different types of brain cancer—from gliomas to acoustic neuromas—showed no increase in brain cancer subtypes either, according to investigators, led by Joachim Schuz of the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology of the Danish Cancer Society in Copenhagen. But because of the proliferation of sms messaging this could cause cancer to the society.
