INXS Champ J.D. Fortune will Rock Manila!


Inxs is set to invade the local music scene when it arrives to perform on Aug. 15 at the Araneta Coliseum.Inxs Switch Tour, is a one-night rock event produced by Renen de Guia’s Ovation Productions. It is the famous rock group’s first visit to Manila, one of several major stops in its Asian swing as part of its current world tour to promote its latest album of the same title.The tour also marks the first concert in eight years of the Australian band with a new lead singer, J.D. Fortune, who was selected for the choice role in September last year on the hit TV reality series, Rock Star: Inxs.



In the US, Inxs achieved its first breakout success with its second single, “What You Need,” when it became a Top Five Billboard hit in early 1986.The band’s worldwide popularity hit its peak in 1987 with Kick, an upbeat, confident album that yielded four Top Ten US singles and several international hits (“New Sensation,” “Never Tear Us Apart,” “Devil Inside,” among others) including the no. 1, “I Need You Tonight.”Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, Inxs was a major force in Australian popular music, leading the way into international recognition and popularity for several Australian bands.It also worked closely with several other Australian artists, such as The Models and Jenny Morris, helping to establish their careers.Throughout an active 25-year musical career, it has been credited with over 30 million albums sold worldwide, 17 Billboard hits (seven of which were Top 10), 23 United Kingdom hits, 33 Australian hits and six consecutive Top 10 in UK and US albums.It has also performed over 4,000 live shows for more than 25 million people in almost 50 countries, including the landmark concert at Wembley Stadium on July 13, 1991 during its Summer XS tour of London when it played before a sold-out audience of 72,000 fans.
